The Argentinean capital is an intriguing mix of history and modern developments with a dash of South American passion thrown in. You will never be short of something to do and there are many exciting activities and places to visit that you should include on your trip.

Exploring Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is a sprawling metropolis so it is worth giving some thought to how you intend to travel around before you arrive. There is a subway service or you can use taxis. Car hire is another option that would also enable you to travel outside the city. If you do decide to hire a car then check the insurance coverage and consider taking out a specific car hire excess insurance policy as this will ensure that you are fully covered against any damage to the hire car.

Sites that you should definitely fit into your itinerary include Plaza de Mayo and the famous Casa Rosada, the Cathedral, San Telmo which is the oldest part of Buenos Aires and the Recoleta Cemetery where you can learn about probably the most famous Argentinean Eva Peron. Cuisine

Buenos Aires has been widely influenced by European countries especially Italy and Spain and this influence is clearly apparent in the cuisine that is available with ravioli and pizza being popular dinner options. Many meals are beef based such as Beef Milanesa as this is one of the major products of Argentina. Deserts show a Spanish influence with Dulce de Batata which is a sweet made from cheese and sweet potato widely available. You should also try the traditional Alfajor which is a biscuit that has been filled and covered with milk caramel.
