Park City, Utah: Come for Vacation, Stay for the Community Vibe

Nov, 27 || No Comments | Tags: , ,

The mention of Park City in Utah to many folks, will immediately conjure up an image of skiing in their mind, but there is actually a whole lot more to this delightful ski town.

Some travel writers have even gone as far as to describe Park City as the best town in America, due to its friendliness, combined with a five-star culture, which makes it a magnet to so many people each year.

If you are looking for an active lifestyle and a real community vibe, you might want to rent yourself a condo through someone like and see for yourself, what all the enthusiastic talk is about.

The great outdoors

Winter is a great time for Parkites, as they have not one but three world-class ski areas right on their doorstep, to choose from.
The Canyons, Deer Valley and Park City itself, are all excellent locations for a skiing adventure, but there are plenty of other outdoor activities to consider as well, if you don’t want to hit the slopes every day or at all.

Camping, climbing and hiking are popular activities in the area, which is understandable when you consider that there are some 500,000 acres of terrain to explore in the nearby Uinta Mountains, not to mention close to 400 miles of trails and an Olympic training center, which is a legacy from the 2002 Salt lake Games.

Authentic community

The real point to remember about Park City is that this is not a place that was built specifically with skiers in mind, whereas places like Whistler exist mainly as a ski resort.

Park City can lay decent claim to being an authentic community and although there is no doubt that the area benefited greatly from the money that came from the Olympics, the place has prospered in its own right for a lot longer than that.

Silver was discovered in the surrounding hills back in the 1860’s and on the back of that prosperity helping Park City to flourish, skiing started to become a focus of attention for many visitors as a result of the investment in facilities funded by the wealth created by silver mining.

Tourist attraction

The mines are now museums and Park City Ski Area is the main focus of attention, but with an enviable transport system and some great areas for shopping and sightseeing, it is not hard to understand why so many people come to the town each year.

Park City only has a small population of around 7,500, which gives it the community vibe that everyone likes. When you consider that 600,000 or more tourists visit each year, you can soon see that looking after the folks who come here is important to the local economy, which is why every effort is made to make everyone feel welcome.

If you ask most of the residents of Park City why they live there, the most popular answer by some way, will be that they love the lifestyle that the place offers them.

Skiing is just one part of the attractions that await you in Park City, so come and see for yourself, and don’t forget to visit one of the many award-winning restaurants for a perfect end to your day of fun.
