Sun, Sand, and Surf at Lanikai Beach

Lanikai Beach is nestled in the sleepy beach town of Kailu on Oahu. It’s one of the island’s most famous beaches. Beachgoers flock to Lanikai Beach for its calm swimming conditions and clear-blue, snorkeling-perfect waters. Colorful reef fish and charming sea turtles are just some of the underwater attractions.

This beach is one of the best beaches for a kayak adventure. Less than a mile offshore, there are two small islands that are within easy reach via kayak. On these islands, kayakers will find bird sanctuaries for exploration. Along with calm seas and on-water adventures, Lanikai Beach also makes the best beach list for its miles of soft, white sands and great wind conditions for windsurfing and sailing.

Swimming, Sports, and Nearby Shopping at Kailua Beach Park

Kailua Beach Park has everything for the perfect beach day. With three miles of talcum-powdered sands and gentle waves, it’s picture perfect for those who want to just bask in the sun or take a cool dip. Beachgoers can also take windsurfing lessons, enjoy a game of sand volleyball, or grab a refreshing treat from the Island Snow eatery. If the sun is too much, there are picnic areas where you can cool off in the shade.

Take a break from the beach and head out to the nearby Kalapawai Market, where you find souvenirs and handmade crafts. For accommodations, there are many hotels and bed and breakfast inns close to Kailua Beach Park.

From swimming and picnicking to nearby jaunts and soft sands, Kailua Beach Park has it all.
