The UK is a treasure trove for tourists. Throughout the entire year, from Cornwall to Aberdeen one can find all manner of events, festivals and goings on, so many that it can be rather difficult at times to ascertain the paltry from the nation-leading. With this in mind we thought we’d make the process of choosing just a little bit easier; here are some of the top events taking place in 2015.
Cheltenham Cricket Festival
Cricket is a quintessentially British sport, and the Cheltenham Cricket Festival is the best event for tourists to enjoy the sport, atmosphere included! Set amongst the princely grounds of Cheltenham College, the festival will see cricketing stars, attractions based upon cricket history and games between Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Kent, Hampshire and Leicestershire. To get to grips with the game make sure to pop on Coral’s app before the game; with news, fixtures and odds, it’s a one-stop place of all things cricket!
Sarah Kane Season
One of Britain’s best and most well-known playwrights, Sheffield’s Theatres play host in February and March to all of the luminary’s plays that were written before her death at the age of 28. Blasted and 4:48 Psychosis are the most well known, and definitely should be seen, but Cleansed, Phaedra’s Love and Skin are also excellent.
Chelsea Flower Show
Taking place between the 19th and 23rd of May, the Chelsea Flower Show is one of the world’s best known flower shows, with over 150,000 people visiting ever year to view the innumerable gardens, exhibits and shows that are set amongst the grounds of London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea (image by Billy Tak-Chi Ho).
Royal Ascot 2015
Another very British pastime, horse racing is a great spectator sport loved by millions in the UK. Royal Ascot is the largest, most glamorous racing event of the year, featuring tens of races, eye catching fashion and a healthy dose of gambling to boot!
England Rugby World Cup 2015
The English Rugby scene is one of the most electrifying in the world, and the Rugby World Cup is rugby’s jewel of its 2015 crown.
